MUIR'S OFX SERVER SOLUTION
Our classic product is the
MOSS Server (Muir's OFX Server Solution).
Our MOSS product is a perfect alternative to MiFST.
For more information, see our PowerPoint presentation.
Our newest product is the
MORE Requestor
(Muir's OFX Request Enabler).
For more information, see our PowerPoint presentation.
Both of our main products have the following characteristics:
- All OFX functions are available
- 24 hours, 7 days a week schedule
- Platform independence
- No normal operator interaction required
- Minimized outward complexity (i.e. easy to maintain)
- Minimal integration required (semi Off-the-Shelf)
- Can be integrated by client
- Can accomodate custom behavior to suit business needs
PRODUCT INFORMATION
Supported Specifications
MOSS and MORE support all extant versions of the OFX Specification, including 1.0.2 and 1.5.1, 1.6 and 2.0, 2.0.2, etc.
We will endeavor to support all new Specifications within 30 days of issuance.
We can extend the products to include any XML Specification to facilitate communication with other systems, both in-house and external.
If a new specification is needed to expand business communications, we are available to write XML DTDs, Schemas or any other XML related building blocks.
Supported Services
MOSS and MORE support the entire range of services defined in the existing OFX Specifications,
including Banking, Investment, Bill Presentment, Bill Payment, Credit Card services, Tax, etc....
Both products can also be extended to allow the support of enhanced internal services in those
instances where organizations desire to augment their OFX tools for work above and beyond just OFX.
Security
The MOSS and MORE products require very different security policies.
Both follow security as defined in the OFX Specification, employ https and follow internal FI policy security guidelines.
MORE, however, supports a much more complicated environment because it must provide support for
stringent requirements for proper handling of user ids and passwords to
use, encrypt, and communicate these items across the internet.
Host Platform Requirements
Neither product contains OS-dependent code; they run on every major operating system.
At this point, we have ported the products to Microsoft's Windows NT/2000/etc, Sun's Solaris,
IBM's AIX and Hewlett-Packard's HPUX (in theory it will run on an IBM MVS mainframe, although no client has yet made this request).
They run in single- and multi-processor environments, single-threaded and multi-threaded.
The only external software requirements for MOSS are that the following exist:
(a) some mechanism -- typically a Web Server - exist to hand us the initial request and to which we can send the response and
(b) that we (actually the people doing the integration) have some way of interacting with the FI's back-end system - be it remote objects such as Corba or DCOM,
a messaging mechanism such as IBM's MQ Series software or simple APIs.
Systems Integration & Development
There are two options available for integration.
Muir (and our partner OSS) is quite experienced in the integration process and is always available to perform this
work on the client's behalf or work alongside in-house integrators.
As a second option, the products can also be integrated by employees of the client!
Either way, we encourage a strong commitment on the part of the client to become familiar with the product and,
thus, become more self-sufficient.
The cost of the system integration process in terms of time and money depends greatly on the
client's level of readiness.
For example, if the client can provide the integrators with functioning access to the back-end (in the form of APIs, remote objects, etc.)
it obviously makes the integration process go more quickly than if the backend
communication isn't yet in place or is being developed in parallel.
In a typical scenario, the integration process requires at least one staff member, full-time to complete the process.
The process will take between 1-3 days per OFX function to code (if the APIs or other mechanisms are in place) and another 1-3 days per
function for testing and certification. In general the FI Integration can be completed in 30 to 60 calendar days,
again depending on the client's commitment and readiness.
Support
Product support is included for 3 months after product purchase;
after this time software maintenance can be contracted at a percentage of the original
product purchase price.
We also have various levels of support services available and all can be negotiated to suit a particular need or business model.
